Day 69 - The End Of The Year Post :)

What I did this year:
So, here we are. I've accumulated a total of 69 posts on this blog and I'm very happy for that. I originally thought I would only have like 40 but through perseverance and hard work I got a lot done. I was really busy with calculus and badminton this year. I would have to stay over 12 hours at school on Tuesdays back in April and I would frantically have to start working on homework when I got back. I always put off Info-tech for the weekends because that was the only time I actually had time to do that. So for majority of this school year, I had no life. I even had to go to summer school last summer because I wanted to take physics. I am really happy to say that I've persevered through all this. It was very difficult but now I'm done and this summer is going to be insane. For my YouTube, Health and just me as a person. There's a lot I'm going to do.

So, I learned a lot this semester. I focused my Independent Studies on Photoshop and Sony Vegas because I have a YouTube channel which I will definitely focus a lot more on this summer. Doing this course taught me a lot about these two programs because I got to do something I loved combined with getting a pretty decent mark in this class. I learned things from distorting photos to colour correcting videos. There's so much I learned in this class. I also learned about fully animating your own video in Sony Vegas for one of my projects. Overall I learned way too much this semester so if you want to check that out, you can view all 69 posts to see something new every day.

Now I come to the part where I give advice to people that want to take Independent Studies or something related to Photoshop/Sony Vegas. Basically what I recommend is that if you want to take Independent Studies make sure you're ready to put the effort in because it definitely is a tough course. Now if you take it during class hours, it shouldn't be as difficult but if you do what I did, which was take it outside of class but that's the main piece of advice. Make sure  you choose something you actually want to do like more it was editing videos. I know for my friends it was creating games or sprites or whatever their passion was. But seriously, this course isn't for the faint of heart so tread carefully. A piece of advice for the people taking Photoshop or Sony Vegas is that not everything is going to work. Not everything is going to be the way you imagined it and that's what I had to accept a couple of times. Yes, if you put the effort in, it will pay off but maybe not how you imagine it. Example: a video you're creating might not work out well such as transitions or something but if you put in effort, it will be positive in another way. Finally, my main piece of advice for anyone taking this course is to manage your time wisely. If I hadn't managed my time wisely, I would have been done for in April but I did and it paid off big time for me because I'm at 100% right now in this class and hopefully that's how I end it.

I have a 100% in this class right now and that's because of hard work. If you go back to my first post I made on this blog, I have a quote saying "I am going to try very hard to get a 100% in this class" and that's what I did. Remember perseverance pays off and I'm so happy it did. Now for the sad part, the farewell....

Alright, so this is going to be my last post on this blog. If anyone has been following it properly, you would know that I have a youtube channel and that's the main reason I created this blog so it could help me learn things about editing. I am really glad I took this course because it really did teach me a lot and about myself. I want to thank Mr. Bilesky for being a true G with this independent course.
Now I said I would send the link to the video and here it is:

Day 68 - Photoshop - Final Project - Montage - Day 5

What I did:
Today, I did my last thing for Independent Studies, program wise. I made the thumbnail for the montage. I am going to uploading it and posting it to my Facebook which I will show you tomorrow. This thumbnail involved taking a picture from the video and editing it in Photoshop. I added a sunburst effect and made  the thumbnail for pristine than I have in the past. You can see what it looks like on my YouTube channel tomorrow. It looks way better than all my other thumbnails in my opinion.

What I learned:
Today, I didn't learn a whole lot about Photoshop other than some simple opacity things. There wasn't that much to learn to be honest because I have basically learned all that I need to for my videos in the future. I did however, add these little yellow features on the thumbnail by dabbing the brush and changing the blend mode to "screen." But to be honest, I knew most of this stuff.  I think that's a fair point to make in that I have created 67 other posts with me learning something. I hope you enjoyed.

What I plan to do tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to create my year end post. It's going to be a sad time even though I wasn't technically in a class but it's always sad when school comes to an end. However, there is a way to keep updated with and that will revealed tomorrow. That's my goal for tomorrow's class.

Day 67 - Sony Vegas - Final Project - Montage - Day 4

What I did:
Today, I finished the montage. I added color saturation to some of the clips, added some tones and all that fun stuff. I added the transition that  I learned a few months ago where you can weave the clips together so it smoothly transitions into the next clip. I am pretty proud of this montage with the amount of time that I had. Considering that I had a few final projects for this class, I think I made a pretty decent montage. I didn't really slow anything down because it messed up the entire thing with the sound so I chose not to do that. However, it really does look a lot better than what I created in my first video which was in August of last year.

What I learned:
Today, I learned why the filters weren't working yesterday. It was because there was a setting active which made it so the colours didn't show. It's basically a feature which doesn't allow any effects to show up because it's supposed to be a "before and after" thing. That is what I learned today in Sony Vegas and I'm glad I did because that would've been devastating if I hadn't.

What I plan to learn tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to make a thumbnail for the video. The video is finished right now but I will post the link in my very last post because it seems suiting that way. Tomorrow, I want to create a sick thumbnail for this video.

Day 66 - Sony Vegas - Final Project - Montage - Day 3

What I did:
Today, I gave a cinematic look to the clips. I did this because that's how montages are supposed to be. So basically I added black bars to the top and bottom of the video. I tried giving the clips a filter but the black and white one wouldn't work and I'm not sure what happened to make it not work but hopefully, I'll find out in the next few days.

What I learned:
Today, I didn't learn much. What I did learn was that every clip comes with the maintain aspect ratio aspect so when I was adding the black bars by condensing the video down, it shows that the clip has aspect ratio because black bars start to form on the right as well. That is what I learned in today's class.

What I plan to learn tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to continue with my montage and hopefully learn why the filters weren't working. I plan to colour correct as well and probably do some more velocity shenanigans. That is my  goal for tomorrow's class.

Day 65 - Sony Vegas - Final Project - Montage - Day 2

What I did:
Today,  I continued my montage making. I have a cool idea of how I want to make this montage. My very first video that I created on this channel was a compilation of clips with me talking over them to explain what was going to be on my channel so I think it would be a cool idea to recreate that video but as a montage rather than a commentary. So I plan to put the clips in the exact same order but montage-ify it.

What I learned:
Today, I learned a little bit more about velocity in Sony Vegas. This is something that I have touched on before but very briefly. In a montage, you want to create slow-mo bits so basically what I did was I took velocity and slowed it down for a part of a clip. This is mainly used when you pull the trigger so people can see what is happening and for the dramatic effect. I didn't use too much of it today but I will definitely do a lot more tomorrow.

What I plan to learn tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to continue creating this project. I will learn more about editing the clips together and making clips black and white. I will also add filters to some of the filters and I also plan to "Hollywood-ize" it.

Day 64 - Sony Vegas - AVID Project - 2/2

What I did:
Today, I finished up the Avid project that I started in last days class. Today, I added all the clips and edited them together. Since my group couldn't transfer the files to me through their phones we had tried sending them over the internet and that did not work because the videos got cut off so we created a google drive folder with us in it so we could download the clips. Let's just say the videos took forever to download so I stayed up till 1.am to finish this. Basically, I finished editing the project today.

What I learned:
Today, I learned about how to add the credit roll. Basically, you have to go to the "Media Generators" thing and select "credit roll" and you choose whichever one you want for the project. I chose the first one which has a black background but you can choose to make it transparent. When you select one, it gives you a bunch of options for text and you can do whatever suits you! That is what I learned today!

What I plan to learn tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to finally continue my montage. No joke or anything. I actually plan to finish my montage or at least continue it because it will take a few days for me to finish it. That is my goal for tomorrow's class.

Day 63 - Sony Vegas - AVID Project - 1/2

What I did:
Today, I did an avid project for info tech. I decided to do this because right now I am very condensed for time. I didn't have time to edit this and make a montage so I hope this will suffice for two posts while I get myself sorted out. So basically this is a project which involves making a dish for university and what people can make so they don't starve. We named our project "A Very Intricate Dish" and made chicken with parmesan noodles. I edited this project and made it like how it is.

What I learned:
Today, I learned that when you put the clips into the composition, if you have a clip that is behind a clip you are moving, it will move the whole thing back rather just the clip. I'm not sure why it happened for this. I'm not 100% sure if it happens when I make my videos but I will be sure to find out when school ends.

What I plan to learn tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to continue this avid project and learn how to add a credit roll. That is my goal for tomorrow.
